One of the frequent questions that we get at our support chat is the explanation regarding the AppSumo deal (December 2017)

If you are one of the users, who purchased this deal then this short post is for you.

What you get in the AppSumo deal?
• You get to use all the design edit features available in a Pro Account.
• You get to use the Pro feature like Magic Resize.
• Access to all the free design elements and also the images in the DB Premium Folder.
• Acess to all the Design Templates.
• Uimited use of DesignBold with unlimited designs 24x7

What you DO NOT get in the AppSumo deal

The AppSumo lifetime pro account access does not provide you the monthly 20 Free Premium stocks from 123RF.

Why ? All the premium stock images from 123RF carry licensing and copyright costs.
Hence, it is not possible to provide 20 free premium stocks every month to one time pay AppSumo life time users (due to the associated licensing and copyright costs)

The regular free 20 monthly premium stocks are only available to regular monthly or yearly subscriber of PRO account.

I am an AppSumo Pro user. How can I use 123RF PREMIUM Stocks?

If you use 123RF premium images in your designs you will be prompted to make a purchase while you are rendering your design. Once you complete the payment, you will be able to download a non watermarked version of the images along with your design.

Another way is buying prepaid credits. It’s like purchasing a prepaid card. You can buy credits at the DesignBold pricing page.

For example you buy 50 credits. Then you can use the credits to pay for premium stocks while rendering your design.

For a single time use, it is 1 credit (24-hour license to use non-watermarked version of the image) and multi-time use requires more credits. (Extensive licensing usage of the image)

Once you run out of credits, then you can purchase credits again from the pricing page.

The benefit is it makes the process of downloading the licensed version of the premium images in your design much more easier.

This is really a big Gip!

Between Designbold and Appsumo you guys appeared to have colluded!

I have never been so disappointed with this "Bait and Switch" tactic.

It was never, ever, clear to me via AppSumo's advertisement that you have to purchase extra $$ to use the images! Or, I would have never touched the purchase button with a 10 foot pole!

Holy crap! so as a supposedly PRO member?
What images are at NO Coins charge available?

(This coin surcharges should be made clear on each image)

As I've wasted plenty of time creating a montage and find out at the end it's a stick-up to empty out my pocket!

Please clarify because every time I've reduced my graphics to just one? you guys still want to charge for Coins!

This is a rip-off and a half! Canva is going to wipe the floors with you guys!

Hi there,

We read through your reply and would like to explain points which I hope will elaborate the points for you.

1. The premium 123RF stocks at DesignBold are curated from premium stock provider 123RF. (Images with 123 RF Watermarks). All the 123RF images carry licensing and copyright costs that are paid for via coins.

So, no venture can provide you with Free coins forever to freely use premium stocks. Even in Canva, which is a great product, you have to pay $1 for each of the premium images or icons you use. If you want extended use of the premium images, then you would need to pay $10 per premium image or icon. Hence, I am not sure regarding the perpetual free premium images or credits you are referring to.

At DesignBold also you will be currently paying 0.8 to 1 $ for standard use of any of the premium 123RF stocks, which is the prevalent market rate.

So, to summarise again, it is not possible (at present) for a design SAAS venture to provide free premium stocks forever for one-time pay. It is not feasible commercially and also in terms of image license costs.

(The AppSumo deal page never mentioned that there are free forever credits to buy premium 123RF Stocks)

2. In your AppSumo deal, you get access to the entire range of free pro tools. (Including Premium Images of DB Folder)

Free Premium Images:

In your AppSumo account, you get free access to 8000 + premium images in DB PREMIUM FOLDER. (You will find the folder at the left sidebar in the design edit area)

These are premium images/stocks, that DB has bought with extended license for its users. So that users can use these premium stocks without paying any price (completely free).

You can use any of the Premium Stocks in the DB Premium Folder as many times you want and you would not be charged. (Free of cost)

To conclude the long answer, providing free coins for always to freely use premium stocks from 123RF is not possible due to licensing and copyright costs.
